ABBY AND BRIDGET LOVE MOVIES & MUSIC. Although this fact alone is not unique to us, its the voracious nature of how we engage with the things we love: ad nauseum, in excess, out loud, and ideally, with one another, that sets us apart and drew us together.
Our friendship began when Abby approached me because of my tote bag, pattenred with my then-favorite songs. I was introverted and guarded, still warming up to the concept of college and skittish when approached. Abby was/is bubbly and opinionated, adept at creating connections through shared interests and completley fearless no matter the circumstance. They asked me questions about the songs I wore as acessories. They made observations about me I was not yet self-aware enough to see in myself. They invited me to co-host their radio show about movie soundtracks.

Movies and music make up our lives, and they sometimes dictate its course.
You learn a lot about yourself when you host a radio show, like how to tolerate the sound of your own voice, even when its speaking into the void. The intoxicating pleasure of monolauging about my interests disipated my shyness for the hour we were on the air, aided by Abby’s quick wit and deep well of cinephilic knowledge. The show was called needle drop
I, Bridget, am penning this introductary post solo, because it also doubles as Abby’s 25th birthday card (happy quarter of a century, Abby my love). We will likely adapt the content to really introduce the concept of this blog, and why we’ve been disucssing its creation for almost three years now. But, in the meantime …. action!
